Intera Partners’ internship program offers students a unique opportunity to gain hands-on experience in private equity and learn alongside a top-tier Nordic investment team.
Since its founding, Intera has consistently welcomed interns as part of its team. Today, four to six interns are selected annually through this program. Internship periods typically last around 4–5 months, during which interns work closely with Intera’s investment team on meaningful projects. Interns are usually in the final stages of their studies and seek to deepen their expertise in finance, strategy, and M&A.
“At Intera, interns are not just background support; they are treated as full-fledged team members. From day one, I got involved with one of the portfolio companies and carried out market research for a potential new deal. Overall, the experience was incredibly valuable in terms of learning, and the office atmosphere was always fun and supportive,” says Tino Salin, intern.
The established program ensures that interns are part of Intera’s working community and culture almost year-round. The program aims to familiarize each intern with key areas of private equity, from sourcing and evaluating investment opportunities to making investment decisions and developing portfolio companies. Interns participate in meetings, analyses, and investment evaluations, as well as supporting the investment team in preparing materials.
“Our goal is to make interns feel like part of the team from day one. We encourage them to be proactive and take ownership. The tasks vary depending on what’s going on in the investment team at any given time — from market scans and deal sourcing to data analysis and material preparation. During their time with us, interns receive structured feedback and take part in all team events. A sense of belonging and strong team spirit is important to us,” says Lauri Heliövaara, Partner and Head of the Internship Program.
The internship program is not only a great development opportunity for students, but also an important recruitment channel for Intera. Many of our current team members started their careers as interns. Additionally, many of our former interns are now working in demanding roles in the financial sector, such as investors or in other positions. Our ambition is to offer our interns valuable experience in the private equity market and support their long-term professional growth.
